Our journey
Think Different Consulting was founded by neurodivergent thought leader Sadie Gillett in July 2023.
Since then, we have grown into a small team of professionals with a high level of expertise. Between us, we've worked in local authorities, NHS services, education, health and social care. We have extensive direct experience in teaching, mentoring and supporting neurodivergent children in schools, colleges and their homes, alongside specialised knowledge in autism, education, strategy within local authorities and SEND law.
But we’re also people, and we have a lot of lived experience of neurodivergence. Many of us have been a parent or professional in the system, some of us have neurodivergent children (in the system or outside of it) and some of us are neurodivergent ourselves.
This means we understand systems from all sides – how decisions are made and why things sometimes stall. We understand the complex journey families and educators face when supporting neurodivergent children in today's school system. Our unique approach challenges and changes systems, not children – working closely with families, schools, local authorities and other professionals to help everyone understand what's needed and how to move forward, lawfully and compassionately.
We put the voices and perspectives of neurodivergent children and young people at the centre of everything we do, and we will celebrate each child’s unique strengths as well as recognising their challenges. Our expertise and lived experience means we know how to connect with neurodivergent children and young people, and our one-to-one mentoring service and social groups are growing rapidly as a result.
Unlike larger organisations, we prioritise being readily available and responsive, ensuring families and professionals never feel alone in navigating complex systems and challenging situations.
Whether you're facing issues with school attendance, unmet needs, demand avoidance, mental health, educational trauma or exclusions, we will offer understanding, strategy and a deep commitment to getting things right.
“I feel so thankful that Sadie and Amber were recommended to me. Their expert knowledge, advice and advocacy has helped me navigate the often difficult and lonely path of being a parent of a neurodivergent child with really positive outcomes. Not only that, Sadie’s reputation and network carries such weight that professionals really listen and take on board her recommendations. I honestly don’t know what I’d so without their help and can’t recommend Think Different Consulting enough!”
